Vidalia, Georgia is proud to be home of the Vidalia Onion Festival. Each year in the spring, the festival brings in thousands of visitors ready to celebrate the heritage of the area. The first Vidalia Onion Festival was organized in 1978 by local civic groups to promote the Vidalia Onion and raise funds for the community.
Festival activities often include the Blue Angels, beauty pageant, live music, carnival rides, arts & crafts. Festival attendees can also enjoy plenty of freshly cooked Vidalia Onion rings, other tasty onion dishes, and of course onion eating contests!
